Minister Shajahan inaugurates week-long 'Jute Fair'

Puducherry, Mar 12: Puducherry Education Minister M O H F Shajahan today inaugurated a week-long 'Jute Fair' here, jointly organised by the Jute Manufactures Development Council (JMDC) and National Centre for Jute Diversification (NCJD).

According to an official release, about 30 entrepreneurs from different parts of the country, including NGOs from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and West Bengal are showcasing enviornment friendly lifestyle products like shopping and fancy bags, handicrafts, wall hangings and novelties made out of jute at the fair.

The fair is organised to create general awareness about the products made from enviornment friendly natural fibre.

The fair is aimed to create new entrepreneurs in this sector in Puducherry.

The Jute Entrepreneurs Service Centre recently started in Puducherry by NCJD under the project 'Smallscale Entrepreneurship Development in Diversified Jute Products' would provide necessary support for the interested entrepreneurs by offering free training and guidance to set up jute unit, the release added.
