Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), the island-city's oldest non-profit professional institute, today signed an MoU with the Loyola College here for a long-term collaboration in areas of faculty and student exchange programmes.

The MoU was signed by MDIS Secretary-General R Theyvendran and Loyola College Principal Albert Muthumalai at a simple function here.

Stating it was the first MoU the MDIS had signed with an Indian institute, Mr Theyvendran said the agreement would focus on development in areas of quality programmes, learning and sharing of teaching expertise, training and academic development, besides offering merit scholarship programmes for financially disadvantaged student candidates.

He said the MDIS had similar plans of associating with educational institutes across India in future.

Rev Muthumalai said the Loyola College was proud to associate with the MDIS as it was focussed on providing highest quality of education at an affordable cost.

The MoU would become effective for the new batch of students starting with academic year 2007-08, he said.
