Haryana tourism minister in Spain to promote trade and ties

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) Haryana Tourism Minister Kiran Choudhry, at the head of a delegation visiting Spain, today met Minister for Economy and Tourism, Fernando Merry del Val in Madrid and sought to discuss various issues to promote tourism and strengthen ties between the two states.

As Spain is known for heritage tourism, the Minister sought cooperation, including technical knowhow to develop Kurukshetra as a heritage city and for modernising and improving the existing complexes and implementing the new technology in the tourism sector in Haryana.

Describing the meeting with Fernando Merry del Val as fruitful, Ms Choudhry, in an official statement said, ''We look forward to the ties between the Government of State of Madrid and Government of Haryana, so that Haryana Tourism may open the new vista in the field of development of theme park and heritage tourism''.

Ms Choudhry also sought the cooperation and coordination in the field of Human Resources Development and asked for investment in the form of FDI for creation and development of new areas, especially in tourism sector.

The other issues which were discussed during the meetings with the Minister Economy and Tourism Minister were related to creation of the theme park, spas, recreational parks and museums as Spain is one of the most favoured tourist destinations attracting 58 million tourists every year.

Ms Choudhry also called upon the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Madrid branch of Confederation of Spanish Industry to invest in Tourism sector in Haryana.

Ms Choudhry's visit is a sequel to the visit of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to Spain in the month of October last year to promote trade and cooperation.
