eSys to tap 'unexplored' Linux mkt with Turbolinux

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) eSys Information Technologies has entered into a distribution partnership with Linux software major Turbolinux to explore the untapped market in India and SAARC.

Mr Noriaki Fukuyasu, President of Turbolinux India, said ''eSys has a strong distribution network in the Tier II markets of India.

This partnership will help Turbolinux target these important 'B' and 'C' class cities as well, where currently we have virtually no presence.'' As per the third-party figures available, the Linux and its application market in India is touted at around 19.9 million dollars by 2010 and is growing at about 21 per cent per annum.

''With our decision to partner with eSys Technologies in India and SAARC countries, we plan to leverage eSys' existing competencies to expand the Linux platform throughout the entire region,'' he said.

''eSys will optimise its channel network in the best possible way to make the latest of the software accessible to every segment of the market,'' eSys InfoTech Chief Operating Officer Neeraj Chauhan said.

With this, eSys has acquired a product portfolio that includes Turbolinux's Desktop Operating System, Server Operating Systems, Linux-based Enterprise Applications and Hardware Devices that run on Linux Operating System.

Turbolinux operating environments run on a wide range of hardware platforms and configurations -- on processors from Intel to IBM, and systems from thin clients to mainframes.

Turbolinux India Pvt Ltd, is a joint venture between Turbolinux Inc and IAP Company Ltd.
