EC restricts supporters and vehicles for filing nomination

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) has issued directions to the Chief Electoral Officer and the Deputy Chief Electoral Officers that the number of people accompanying the contestants for filing nominations to assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh should not exceed five, including the candidate.

According to EC sources, the political parties have also been warned that the candidates should not take more than three vehicles at the time of filing nomination papers either to the office Returning Officer (RO) or the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO).

Non-compliance would be treated as a violation of the election rules, they said.
