Dasmunsi against referring Subba issue to House Committee

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) The Centre has rejected the BJP demand to hand over the issue of citizenship of Congress MP from Asom Mani Kumar Subba to a ''competent Parliament committee.'' ''The Parliament has never decided the issue of citizenship of anybody in independent India so far,'' minister for Parliamentary Affairs P R Dasmunsi said here today while talking to mediapersons.

He was commenting on a letter by BJP Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha V K Malhotra to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee demanding handing over the issue to a Parliamentary Committee.

Mr Malhotra demanded the termination of Mr Subba's membership referring to an investigative report by an TV channel.

The TV news report had claimed that Mr Subba was not a bonafide citizen of India.
