Corp Bank installs biometric ATM in Mangalore
Mangalore, Mar 12 (UNI) The Corporation Bank has launched AGS Infotech - Wincor Nixdorf Biometric Kisan ATM here to cater to the banking needs of rural India and accelerate the ongoing efforts to facilitate financial inclusion.
The biometric ATM replaced personal identity number (PIN) with thumb impression, the Bank said in a release here today.
The fingerprint scanner fitted in the machine would recognise only the customer's thumb impression and this would prove to be a major relief to the people in rural areas, the Bank said.
Specially designed for rural India, the Kisan ATM incorporated video and voice animation system coupled with single-touch application that would make operations not only easier, but also safer for farmers who would not have to depend on others for withdrawing money from ATMs, the Bank said.
The ATM was from Wincor Nixdorf, whereas the integration with fingerprint scanner and the development of Single Touch Transaction was by AGS Infotech.
