New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) After having received unwavering support from his skipper Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, in a desperate pursuit to find his form, has found backing from the most unlikely quarter -- Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy.

Berating the media for rubbishing the reputation of India's star batsman, Dr Swamy said it was ''wittingly or unwittingly seeking to undermine Sehwag's self-confidence at the behest of anti-national forces.'' In a statement, he claimed that he had ''reliable information that West Asia and Pakistan-based bookies are orchestrating a campaign against him because Sehwag has the capacity to change the direction of any game and demoralise any formidable bowler by his magnificent and aggressive batting.'' The dashing opener, he said, had a reputation of destroying the most lethal bowlers. ''This unsettles the bookies, and hence they want him out of the team.'' After scoring a scorching triple century against Pakistan, Sehwag should be regarded as a permanent member of the Indian team ''even if he scores zeroes for the next twenty innings,'' suggested Dr Swamy.
