About 200 anti-WTO protestors detained in Delhi
New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) About 200 people protesting against the WTO in Delhi were detained by police in South Delhi today.
The protestors, activists of Youth for Justice, Kisan Log Abhiyan and Dehat Morcha, were demanding immediate suspension of the talks, between the government and WTO officials.
''When the Doha round of talks failed as a platform, why are talks on the same issue being held in India,'' Youth for Justice member Kapil Mishra said.
He accused the government of misleading the country and holding clandestine talks with the world body.
''The number of farmers committing suicide is increasing and their is no affirmative action in this direction,'' he claimed.
Kisan Log Abhiyan president Rakesh Narwar said if the negotiations succeeded the farmers will ''suffer''.
''If the talks come through, the country will only see farmer suicides,'' he added.
