Swamy alleges campaign against Virendra Sehwag
New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today criticised what he called a campaign against India's batsman Virendra Sehwag and said the media should stop tarnishing the reputation of the star batsman at the instance of anti-national forces.
"The media should stop rubbishing the reputation of India's star batsman Virendra Sehwag and thus wittingly or unwittingly seek to undermine the player's self-confidence at the behest of anti-national forces," he said in a statement issued here.
Mr Swamy said he had reliable information that West Asia and Pakistan-based bookies were orchestrating a campaign against Sehwag "because the batsman has the capacity to change the direction of any game and demoralise any formidable bowler by his magnificent and aggressive batting." He added, "This unsettles the bookies and hence they want Sehwag out of the team." The Janata Party president said after scoring triple century against Pakistan, Sehwag should be regarded as a permanent member of the Indian team even if he scored zero for the next 20 innings.
