Seema Parihar to contest election from Mirzapur

Mirzapur, Mar 11 (UNI) Former dacoit Seema Parihar will contest the by-elections from the Mirzapur parliamentary seat on Indian Justice Party (IJP) ticket, IJP general secretary Kali Charan said here.

The by-election for the Mirzapur parliamentary seat is on May 3 alongwith the sixth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

In the 2004 general elections, Narendra Singh Kushwaha of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had successfully contested from this seat by defeating Virendra Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

However, Mr Kushwaha had resigned after he was found guilty in a bribery case.

Phoolan Devi had successfully contested from the Mirzapur parliamentary constituency.

Mr Ramrati Bind of the Samajwadi Party (SP) amd Mr Ramesh Dubey of the BSP are trhe other candidates. The BJP and Congress are yet finalise their candidates.

Ms Parihar has planned a road show in the city today to campaign for the elections. She would be accompanied by IJP president Udit Raj and other senior party leaders. Later, she would address a gathering in Lalganj area of the city.

The 35-year-old bandit is accused of around 30 cases of murder, robbery and kidnapping and is presently out on bail.
