Meghalaya budget session begins tommorrow
Shillong, Mar 11 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader Donwa Dethwelson Lapang tomorrow will enter the Meghalaya Assembly again as a Chief Minister after his predecessor J D Rymbai quit office yesterday.
Mr Rymbai, who was defiant for the past five days to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's directive to step down, yesterday put in his paper ending five days of high political drama in this political instable state.
Meanwhile, Governor M M Jacob has summoned a 13-day budget session from tomorrow. He will deliver his customary speech.
However, Assembly secretariat officials said that soon after Governor Jacob addresses the session, Speaker Martin M Danggo is likely to adjourn the House for three days to allow the newly formed government, headed by Meghalaya Democratic Alliance, to prepare for the session.
The budget session will resume on March 16 with President A P J Abdul Kalam addressing the 60-member state legislative Assembly.
