IT Dept seizes gold jewellery from air passenger

Chennai, Mar 11 (UNI) The Officials of the Income Tax department seized unaccounted gold jewellery weighing eight kgs from a passenger, who arrived from Mumbai at Kamaraj Domestic Airport here today.

Police said, acting on a tip off, they intercepted the passenger Kirankumar, an employee of a leading jewellery shop in Mumbai and effected the seizure.

Preliminary enquiries revealed that the passenger brought the jewellery to supply the same to various jewellers in the city.

Further investigations were on, police added.
