New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Lakhs of children below five years of age were administered polio vaccine at 7500 Polio booths across the capital today.

Around 30,000 workers and employees of the Health Department were pressed into service from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs to ensure maximum reach.

Stalls had been put up up at Railway Stations, ISBTs, Public places, including Appu Ghar, major temples, Metro Stations, Millennium Park, Zoo and Mc Donalds outlets.

The drive was preceeded by a weeklong door-to-door survey under search and immunization Pulse Polio Campaign.

Around 17,000 workers in 86,00 teams visited different colonies, including Slum and JJ Clusters, to search and administer Polio Drops to left out children.

The only cause of concern for Delhi is huge population that migrates from neighbouring states into the capital and are potential polio victims.

The government is initiating successive drives to reduce if not eliminate the polio cases for ever.
