Bharti Airtel announces managerial rejig from Apr 1

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Telecom conglomerate Bharti Airtel today announced strategic managerial changes across the company and its overseas ventures.

The company has appointed Executive Director (North) Sanjay Nandrajog as Executive Director (International Operations and Managed Services).

In his new role, Mr Nandrajog will be responsible for operations in locations like Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Jersey and Guernsey.

In addition any other new licenses will also come under his purview.

All current CEOs of these operations will now directly report to Mr Nandrajog.

''The formation of a new structure is the result of the organisation's objective to transition high performers across businesses and provide them with larger responsibilities,'' Bharti Airtel President Manoj Kohli said.

Post transfering its towers business into wholly-owned subsidiary Bharti Infratel, the company has appointed Mr P Swaminathan as the former's Executive Director. Mr Swaminathan is now acting as a Director and CEO (Tamil Nadu circle).

This new role is significantly important for the company as it will help build synergies and cost efficiencies based on substantial infrastructure sharing, energy conservation etc, the company said.

Both Mr Nandrajog and Mr Swaminathan will continue to report to Mr Kohli.

Besides, the company's Director Mobility East K Srinivas has been promoted as Executive Director - Mobility East.

Mr Jayant Khosla has been appointed as the new Executive Director - Mobility West. Mr Srinivas and Khosla will continue to report to Bharti Airtel Jt President Sanjay Kapoor.

Airtel has recently merged its Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa circles into a consolidated operation in the West with a view to achieve better market penetration.

The company's CEO Karnataka Mobility Circle Deepak Mehrotra has been promoted as Director - Mobility South. Mr Mehrotra will provide guidance to his successor Mr V Venkatesh, who is being promoted as CEO Karnataka circle.

The changes will come into effect from April 1, 2007.

Bharti Airtel is structured into three strategic business units - Mobile services, Broadband and Telephone (B&T) services and Enterprise services. The mobile business provides mobile and fixed wireless services using GSM technology across 23 telecom circles.

The B&T business provides broadband and telephone services in 94 cities. The Enterprise services provide end-to-end telecom solutions to corporate customers and national and international long distance services to carriers.
