Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray today demanded an independent inquiry into the Tasgaon incident, where a repoll was ordered in 12 constituencies.

Talking to mediapersons after the Mayoral elections, Mr Thackeray said since Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil headed the Home ministry, the issue was quite important. An FIR was filed against Mr Patil by a Shiv Sena candidate but later the candidate said he had done it under pressure from the BJP.

Replying to a query about his cousin Raj's comment on north Indians wherein he had said that they should respect Marathi culture or else face the music, Mr Uddhav Thackeray said such parties keep coming on the scenario with new announcements but Shiv Sena has never changed its ideology for the last 41 years.

''I promised Sena chief that both Mumbai and Thane will have the Sena Mayor and I succeeded in it,'' said Uddhav.

In elections to the ten municipal corporations, the Sena-BJP alliance succeeded in having Mayors elected from their parties in three corporations, including Mumbai, Thane and Nagpur.
