Tripura seeks PM's help in rail extenstion

Agartala, Mar 10: The Tripura Assembly has adopted a resolution seeking Prime Minister Monmohan Singh's intervention for extension of railway line upto Sabroom in Tripura's south district, during next budget.

Members of the treasury bench in the Assembly announced the adoption of the private member resolution reqesting the Centre for extension of rail line upto Sabroom, the southermost sub-division of the state, bordering neighbouring Bangladesh's Chittagong port.

Ruling CPI(M)'s MLA Basudeb Majumder demanded that the extension of rail line be included in the Union Government's budget session during 2007-2008.

Participating in the discussion, Transport Minister Manik Dey said the survey work for setting up of 110 km long rail line upto Sabroom from this capital city was completed during 2000.
