Surat will be among top 100 cities in the world: Modi
Surat, Mar 10 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said with dedicated development work, Surat can enter the list of the top 100 cities in the world.
He was speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the new Amroli bridge over Tapi river here.
Modi also inaugurated the newly constructed flyover at Udhna Darwaja area and a water treatment plant in Sarthana.
Speaking at the ceremony at Amroli bridge, Modi said his government had spent a plan fund to the tune of Rs 49,000 crore during the last five years, which according to him was much higher than the achievement of the 40-year old Congress rule in the State.
Modi said his government would spend Rs 15,000 crore for the development of Tribal people and Rs 11,000 crore for the coastal area development.
Modi criticised the Congress for asking the Centre to impose Article 356 in the State and said if it was imposed, his party would win 156 seats in the next election.
