Snow and rain in HP plummet temperatures
Shimla, Mar 10 (UNI) Heavy snow in the higher regions areas and widespread rains in mid and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours have plummeted temperatures in the entire state, met office said today.
Higher altitude areas of Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti, Chamba, Kullu, Shimla, Mandi and Kangra districts experienced fresh spell of heavy snow, while mid and lower hills, including Shimla town, were lashed by rains since early morning.
Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul Spiti, recorded over 25 cm of snow, while Churah Valley in Chamba district experienced about 30 cm of fresh snow since early morning, official and met sources said.
Manimahesh Lake, Saach Pass and Dhantareru in the district had also reported over 30 cm of snow, disrupting vehicular traffic on the Chamba-Bhairagarh road.
Heavy rain also lashed Chamba town and other tourist resorts of Dalhousie and Khajjiar, plummeting temperatures in the district.
The sources said Rohtang Pass, situated at 13,50 feet, also reported heavy snowfall besides Manali, which was under eight cm of fresh snow.
Dhauladhar Ranges, overlooking the Kangra Valley, also experienced fresh snow, while heavy rains lashed the lower areas of the district.
