Six arrested for illegal hotel raid in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police today arrested six people in connection with an illegal raid on a local hotel yestersday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SS) Syed Mujtaba said it took into captivity the six for ransacking the hotel and damaging the vehicle.

He said immediately after the incident, police registered a case against those involved in the raid.

About the complaints that the hotel was reportedly being used for flesh trade, the SSP said, the matter was being looked into by the police.

''The Law will take its own course and if anything was found in the hotel, the management will have to face the law,'' he said.

But, he said, nobody will be allowed to take the law in hand and hooliganism will not be tolerated at any cost.

Yesterday people raided Hotel De Meridian near Iqbal Park on the Srinagar Airport road immediately after the Friday prayers, alleging that it was being used for flesh trade.

Besides the furniture, the mob also damaged about half-a-dozen parked vehicles and set ablaze another vehicle of the hotel owner.
