Recovery of SIM card solves murder case in Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Recovery of SIM cards again helped Jammu and Kashmir police to solve a blind murder case in Kashmir, a senior police officer said.
Giving details about the murder, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) told reporters here this afternoon that a body was fished out from river Jehlum at Qamarwari in the downtown on February 19.
However, people alleged that police was involved in the murder of the youth identified as Firdous Ahmad Gassi, a resident of Bemina.
During the search of the body, two SIM cards were recovered, he said adding later a suspicious name of Mohammad Ashraf Putto surfaced.
SSP said that after investigation, it was found that Gassi has been murdered for mobile phones which he was carrying at the time of his death. The phones were recovered from accused Puttoo, a three-wheeler driver.
He said the case was solved within ten days and the accused booked for murder.
Earlier, a SIM card helped police to arrest seven police officers, including a SSP, a DY SP for killing four persons in fake encounters in Ganderbal area of the valley.
