Prohibitory orders clamped in Rajnandgaon
Rajnandgaon, Mar 10 (UNI) Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC have been imposed in entire Rajnandgaon district where Lok Sabha byelection is in progress.
Under the prohibitory orders effective till April 2, political parties and candidates will have to seek prior permission for holding election meetings, District Collector R S Vishwakarma said.
Ban on public meetings and carrying arms have been banned, he said.
Polling in Rajnandgaon is scheduled on March 29 and today is the last date for filing nominations.
The seat fell vacant after sitting BJP MP Pradeep Gandhi, a close associate of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, was disqualified after being caught in the cash-for-query scam.
Former Madhya Pradesh Minister Leelaram Bhojwani is the BJP nominee, while Mr Devbrat Singh of Khairagarh is the Congress candidate.
