Pune, Mar 10 (UNI) The city police today issued notices to Hassan Ali, suspected to be involved in a Rs 35,000-crore money laundering scam, to present himself before it by Monday.

Crime Branch sources said a meeting, headed by ACP Rajeinder Singh, was held today and it was decided to issue the notice to Hassan Ali as cases of economic offences by the latter had surfaced.

''We have served him a notice,'' Crime Branch inspector Pratap Barge confirmed, adding that Hassan Ali was very much present in the city.

The notice was accepted by Rama Khan, Ali's wife. She told the police that her husband had provided appropriate answers to the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate.

Meanwhile, Ali's lawyer Viraj Kakade also confirmed the receipt of the notice and said he would be answering it soon.

The 53-year-old Hassan Ali is believed to possess wealth in the region of Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 35,000 crore and owns properties in Pune, Mumbai, Nashik and Kolkata.

He had been admitted to the city-based Jehangir Hospital between January and February with cardiac and liver problems following raids by the IT and the Enforcement Department(ED).
