One injured in a blast, war like stores recovered in J and K

Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) One person was injured in a mine blast while security forces arrested a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, busted two hideouts and recovered war like stores in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said.

He said one Lateef Ahmad Shah was injured when he stepped over a mine at Khundroo forest in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. He was hospitalised.

Handwara Police arrested a LeT militant Javeed Ahmad Mir, at Nutnusa. Two hand grenades were recovered from him.

A BSF spokesman said troops of BSF's 145 battalion BSF and state police launched a joint operation at village Karwa in the central district of Badgam following a tip off that militants had stored huge cache of arms and ammunition there.

He said after a long search of the area, troops finally smashed the hideout.

The arms and ammunition recovered included one rocket launcher with two shells, one booster, three Chinese grenades, seven magazines, a pistol silencer, one wireless set, one kg of RDX, one IED charger, one Russian Binocular and more than 5000 rounds of ammunition.

In another similar successful operation, troops of 55 battalion BSF unearthed a hideout in an abandoned house at Hathishah Sopore, in north Kashmir.

A large cache of arms and ammunition including an AK rifle, six magzines,120 rounds of ammunition, one pistol, two grenades and two UBGL grenades were recovered. However, no one was arrested.
