No microphones for Ram Dev's Yoga camp
Kolkata, Mar 10: A division bench of Calcutta High court has rejected a petition seeking permission to use microphones in a proposed yoga camp of Baba Ram Dev to be held here later this month.
The Biswa Jagriti Mission is hosting the yoga camp from March 21 to 26 at Rabindra Sarobar stadium.
Chief Justice S S Nijjar and Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya rejected the petition yesterday by the Biswa Jagriti Mission, challenging a notice issued by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board.
In the notice issued on March 6, the Board had imposed restrictions on using microphones from March 13 for the sake of students appearing in the West Bengal Higher Secondary examinstions.
The petitioner's counsel argued that the programme was fixed long ago and they had got permission from the police and Kolkata Municipal Corporation for using public address system as thousands of learners and freshers would take part in the six-day camp to be conducted by the yoga guru.
