Kamal honoured with FICCI FRAME's living legend award

Chennai, Mar 18 (UNI) In yet another feather in his cap, versatile actor and multifaceted film personality, Kamal Haasan has been chosen for the FICCI FRAMES Living Legend Award to be presented on March 28 in Mumbai.

Announcing the award, FICCI said Kamal Hassan is an acknowledged pioneer of Indian film industry and has been at the forefront of many a novel steps taken. He has stood for all changes, which are progressive, taking the entertainment industry forward.

As an actor, he has become the byword for innovation, creativity and variety, showing exemplary dedication to his craft to emerge as another legend among his peers, it also said.

The FICCI also acknowledged his talent as a writer committed to creativity and for his mastery of the craft of screenwriting. As a producer, he has, as the saying goes, 'put his money where his mouth is' and combined conviction with professionalism.

Mr Kamal Haasan is probably the first actor in the world to convert his fan clubs into social service organisations, which have become instruments of social and cultural change, FICCI said.

''I am happy to be receiving the prestigious award,'' said Kamal, when contacted while he was shooting at the hitoric Pallavan town and tourist spot Mamallapuram for his latest film 'Dasaavathaaram', in which he is playing ten roles.

Previous recipients of this prestigious award include some leading lights of Hindi cinema like thespians Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand, another living legend Amitabh Bachchan, yesteryear heroines and classical Bharatnatyam dancers Vijayantimala Bali, Waheeda Rahman and Hema Malini, legendary singer-sisters Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, matinee idols Shammi Kapoor and Dharmendra.
