Business hubs to boost rural economy: Tako Dabi

Itanagar, Mar. 10: The Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to set up one rural business hub in each anchal samity, block and zilla parishad and if possible in each gram panachayt area during the 11th plan period, said Panchayati Raj Minister Tako Dabi.

Addressing the maiden meeting of the state level Rural Business Hubs Council (RBHC) here yesterday, he said the government has aimed at streamlining the production and marketability of all rural products across the state.

The meeting also recommended immediate setting up of RBHs, identification of area specific rural products and organized mechanism for marketing outlets for such products. The council also recommended ban on sale of raw cane, according to official sources.

The rural products having tremendous potentials, if tapped methodically could improve the rural economy, Dabi said, adding that this could be possible if the tendency to look for contract jobs was gradually replaced by taking up area-specific remunerative projects.

Citing an example of a wood carving finished by only with the help of a knife to give anti-smoking, anti-drinking message; the minister, also chairman of RBHC, suggested immediate identification of champion products covering traditional arts and crafts, dresses, agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry&veterinary and herbal to benefit the masses. He also advocated constitution of block and zilla level to assess the marketing problems.
