Fee collection agency to disrupt World Cup telecast
Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) Prime Entertainment Network,a collection agency of several television channels has threatened to disrupt the coming World Cup cricket matches in hotels and restuarants, if these commercial establishments do not pay the license fee.
The Network is the Collection Agency for ESPN, Star Sports, Star TV, ZEE Turner India Ltd and One Alliance for Punjab, Haryana, J and K, HP and Chandigarh.The Network is authorised to collect license fee from the commercial establishments like hotels, restuarants, showrooms etc that has been fixed by TRAI.
A release issued by the Network stated that the failure to deposit the fee was a clear violation of law and the Copyright Act.
The Network has threatened to seek assistance from the police if their fee is not deposited.
''The Network is now left with no other option but to withdraw services with immediate effect, that would not only effect the establishements but also the general public at large'', the release said while pointing out that a number of hotels and restuarants in the region had come out with attractive offers for customers for viewing the World Cup on large screens.
