Chandy denies misuse of tsunami funds
Palakkad, Kerala Mar 10 (UNI) Congress leader Oommen Chandy today said Rs one hundred crore tsunami fund sanctioned by the Central Government was not diverted for other purposes by the then United Democratic Front(UDF) Government and utilised it only for tsunami relief operations.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the amount spent at Puthuppally was from Chief Minister's relief fund only.
Denying the allegations against him, Mr Chandy said the Left Democratic Front Government(LDF) should apologise to the people of the State about the ADB agreement.
He alleged that when UDF was in power and signed the ADB agreement, LDF started agitation against the agreement. The LDF Government must clarify which portion was removed from the agreement, he added.
He said he will always keep the interest of the State's development in mind. The LDF Government had not utilised the agricultural package offered by the Centre, he alleged.
Mr Chandy alleged that the State Government budget would not benefit the common man, as it only contained Mathetmatics.
