CCL to produce 78 million tonne of coal in next five-year plan: CMD

Ranchi, Mar 10 (UNI) The Central Coalfields Limited(CCL) has planned to increase production to 78 million tonnes in the terminal year of 11th five year plan(2011-12) beginning next year.

Talking to reporters last evening, Chairman and Managing Director R K Retholia said that five new mines at Madgadh, Amrapali, north Urimari, Karo and Konar would be commissioned, besides other existing mines to enhance coal production.

Mr Retholia said that during the month of January and February this year, the company had achieved record growth of 29 per cent and 21 per cent respectively to meet the target of producing 42 million tonnes this year.

He further said till last month, the CCL had earned a profit of approximately Rs 7,73 crores and expected to increase it to Rs 1,400 crores by the end of this month.

Regarding welfare and community development activities of the company, Mr Retholia said that in last fifty years, 68 schools were established by the company and about 195 schools received infrastructural help by the company.

He said the company has plans to open an engineering college in the state.

He further said the company would celebrate next year as '' Welfare Community Development and Environmental Conservation Year''.
