Puducherry, Mar 10 (UNI) Based on a complaint lodged by Students Congress president Samraj that derogatory remarks against PCC president P Shanmugham were published and distributed here, police registered a case today.

According to police sources, since a direct case cannot be booked, they had obtained permission from the Magistrate to proceed with the case, on the basis of the complaint.

Citing the distribution of such pamphlets throughout the town two days back, Mr Samraj had lodged a complaint with the Grand Bazaar police yesterday.

Police have registered cases under section 501 IPC(printing or engraving matter derogatory in nature) of IPC and under section 12 of the Press Registration of Books Act (not printing the name of the printer and publisher while publishing pamphlets).
