Samsung India aims 100% growth in sale of LCD monitors

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Cashing in on the dropping prices of LCDs, electronics major Samsung India today launched three new models of its liquid crystal display monitors and said it is targeting a 100 per cent jump in their sales during the year.

With an existing range of 18 models in LCD monitors and 24 in printers, Samsung India promises to line up more launches in the year 2007, company Deputy Managing Director Ravinder Zutshi said.

The company also announced strategic distribution tie-ups with printing and automation solutions firm Lipi Data Systems for its select high-end network printers and Kores stationery channel for its consumables.

''We will leverage Lipi Data Systems' reach in the government corporate channels for fully tapping these sectors,'' Mr Sanjay Sharma, Vice President (IT Division), Samsung India told reporters.

The company expects to tap the fast growing, high potential corporate and small and medium businesses (SMBs) in the banking and insurance sector for its mid level and high-end printers.

The company, which has re-chrisened its information technology peripherals division as Samsung 'Digital Imaging Solutions' business, sold about 3,00,000 units of LCD monitors last year.

It is looking at a 50 per cent growth in volumes in its printer business this year, he said here while launching the premium LCD monitor series -- Myst, Mendel and Mobius -- in the 17 to 22 inches screen size segment.

Samsung also unveiled the company's colour laser multifunction laser printer, CLX-3160 FN (Printer-Copy-Scan-Fax), priced at Rs 44,990.

It also launched a monochrome multifunction laser printer, SCX-6345 N, with a speed of 43 A4 pages per minute and a paper capacity of upto 2,180 sheets. It is priced at Rs 1,29,990.

''In addition to growing our printer stockists by 25 per cent this year, we also plan to tap new retail opportunities like Croma and Reliance Retail for printer business,'' he said.

Available in 19, 20 and 22 inches screen sizes, the 'Mendel' series of LCD monitors are priced around Rs 22,000, Rs 26,000 and Rs 35,000 respectively.

The 'Myst' series which come in 17 and 19 inches are priced at Rs 13,800 and Rs 19,800 respectively.

The 'Mobius' LCD monitors available in 19 inches screenh size will come at a price of Rs 28,000.
