Poor health coverage retards health coverage: Apang
Itanagar, Mar 9(UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has urged the Centre to help the state government so that the health programmes reach remote areas.
''We should not compromise with health of the common people and stress should be given on proper central allocation so that health programmes reach remote border areas,'' Apang commented after a meeting with Union Health and Family Welfare Additional Secretary S Jaleja.
official sources here today said the chief minister said the state health department has made concerted efforts and the people were taking it positively in spite of a few reservations. While appreciating "successful implementation" of ASHA, health worker scheme under NRHM, in the state, Ms Jaleja, who is also National Rural Health Mission(NRHM) Director, called for proper implementation of the immunisation programme, which presently stands at twenty per cent.
She further informed that the Centre has provided Rs 8.6 crore for mobile units in all the district and was ready to provide Rs one crore each for the district hospitals.
