Over 1100 cases of illegal mineral minings reported in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, Mar 9 (UNI) Gujarat Industry Minister Anil Patel today informed the State Legislative Assembly that over 1100 cases of illegal mineral minings have been reported in the state during last the two years.

Mr Patel informed the House the state government has also recovered of Rs 691.87 as fine from these illegal miners in 888 cases.

Replying to a written question during question hour, the minister said other cases were at different levels of investigations.

In reply to another supplimentary question, Mr Patel said the Special Task Force and Flying Squads have been formed at state and district levels to prevent these illegal minings in Gujarat.

The minister said out of more than 1100 cases, 594 cases were registered in the last one year, of which the highest 194 cases were from Surat district, followed by Porbandar with 61, Rajkot 56, Surendranagar 37, Junagadh 33. While the lowest case was in arid Kutch district.
