MK's hope on passage of women's bill

Chennai, Mar 8 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today expressed the hope women will recieve the 'victory message' of the reservation bill providing 33 per cent quota for women in Parliament and State Assemblies being passed by Parliament during the stewardship of the Congress Party by its President Sonia Gandhi.

Addressing a gathering during a function organised in connection with International Women's Day here this evening, Mr Karunanidhi said a rally will be organised in the city tomorrow to press for the passage of the Bill.

For the last one year, such rallies had been organised. The passage of the bill will be a victory for the Women's Day celebrations, he said.

He recalled how Poet Subramaniya Bharathiar and Rationalist Leader E V R Periyar, had, as far back as in 1945 raised their voice in support of women and extolled their valour and glory.
