High Court reserves order in witness abduction case
Patna, Mar 9 (UNI) Patna High Court today reserved the order on a petition relating to abduction of Lalmuni Devi, a prime witness in the murder case involving JD(U) MP from Maharajganj Prabhunath Singh.
A division bench comprising justice Aftab Alam and Justice Samrendra Pratap Singh passed the order on a petition filed by Harendra Rai, son of Lalmuni Devi.
Mr Harendra had filed an habeous corpus petition in the court demanding release of her mother from clutches of the goons of JD(U) MP Prabhunath Singh at whose insistance, they had allegedly kidnapped her.
Ms Lalmuni Devi was kidnapped before her appearance on November 3, 2006 as witness in a Bhagalpur court in connection with a murder case pending against the JD(U) MP.The abductors had allegedly forced Ms Lalmuni to turn hostile in the case.
Counsel of the JD(U) MP submitted before the court that the petitioner had sought release of her mother, whereas the alleged abducted victim had appeared before the division bench of the court in November 2006 itself on her own wish so there was no need to pass any further order in this connection.
On December 6 last year the court had directed D N Guatam-IG ( Police Modernization and training ) to supervise the investigation of two crimainal cases lodged at Panapur police station in Saran district in connection with the abduction of Ms Devi.
