Direct flight to T
Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) A direct flight between India and Trinidad and Tobaggo (T&T), the country which is home to celebrities like cricketer Brian Lara and Nobel laureate V S Naipaul, will commence in near future.
The announcement was made by High Commissioner of Trinidad&Tobaggo Pundit Maniedeo Prasad on the sidelines of an interactive session held by CII here today.
''A UK-based Indian low-cost carrier company has already evinced interest in this connection and further talks are still on,'' he said while talking to UNI.
Giving details on the issue, the High Commissioner said in case the aviation firm gets the go-ahead signal for launching its flight bvetween the two countries, one can enjoy flying to T&T from India and vice versa within 14 hours time.
As per the current arrangement, the air passenger travelling from India to T&T has to take a Delhi-Milan flight and then Milan-Caracass flight followed by Caracass-T&T flight to reach that country, which consumes time as well as money both, leave alone the connectivity woes. Even if the connectivity is good, it takes more than 17 hours during the air travel.
Mr Prasad said ''People travelling from India to my country prefer to take Delhi-Colombo flight first to complete their further course of journey by catching Colombo-London flight for a simple fact that London's being a business hub. And after finishing their work in London, they visit T&T.'' He hoped that once the direct-flight between the two countries becomes a reality it will give a boost to the Indian tourists aspiring to visit T&T in future.
Also, he informed that the T&T government is working on the introduction of single window clearance for the Indian investors. It will help Indian investors installing their units hassle-free in T&T, he said.
