DCI hears public view on delimitation

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) Chairman and members of the Delimitation Commission of India (DCI) today heard the grievances of the public in respect of delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.

Commission Chairman Kuldeep Singh said the draft released earlier by the commission was not final.

After hearing the views of public and the political parties, the commission would consider their suggestions and try to incorporate them in the final draft, he said at the sitting here.

Stating that the DCI was an autonomous body, Mr Singh said the final draft would be prepared after hearing the view of the public.

The Commission had already conducted sittings in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam and heard the views of the public and leaders of various political parties, he said and appealed to the public and leaders of political parties to submit their views in a systematic way and express their opinion on the process of delimitation.

The Public representatives of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizambad, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Mahaboobnagar and Medak districts would submit their representations and air their views in the ongoing two-day grievance hearing here.

State Election Commissioner A V S Reddy said all the views of public representatives would be taken into consideration while preparing the final draft on the delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in the state.
