Clearances being taken for Commonwealth Games projects

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The government today informed Parliament that the process of seeking clearances from various agencies for the 2010 Commonwealth Games was currently on.

The Sports Ministry was in the process of seeking the clearances required and any objection/clarification raised by local bodies were suitably addressed by implementing agencies concerned, Minister for Urban Development Ajay Maken said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

An empowered committee had also been set up under the chairmanship of Delhi Chief Secretary to help expedite the clearances.

All the games related projects were expected to be completed in time for the event, he added.

In reply to another question, he said the Uttar Pradesh government had agreed to transfer land required for constructing the Commonwealth Games Village to Delhi Development Authority.

DDA had requested the UP government for transferring 30.88 acres of land for building the complex in East Delhi. The state government agreed to transfer the land after a few rounds of talks.

A compensation of Rs 67.65 lakh per acre was to be paid by the DDA to the UP government.
