Bharat Shah threats: anticipatory bail plea of three rejected

Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) A local court today rejected the anticipatory bail applications of three directors of Royal Palms Private Limited here in connection with the alleged threat calls received by diamond merchant and film financier Bharat Shah.

The court rejected the applications on the grounds that it was premature to entertain such applications.

Additional Sessions Judge S S Ghanoo, while rejecting the applications, observed that Mr Shah had just lodged a complaint about the threat calls and a First Information Report had not yet been filed. It was, therefore, premature to entertain such applications.

The three had moved the court for anticipatory bail fearing arrest following Mr Shah's complaint.

Mr Shah has stated in his complaint that he had received two calls -- one on March 3 and the other on March 4 from Dubai.

The caller, Mr Shah has stated in his complaint, had identified himself as ''Shetty'' and had directed him to forsake his Royal Palms property or else face dire consequences. Mr Shah had lodged the complaint on March 5.
