40 sovereigns of gold robbed in Seshadri express

Eluru, Mar 9 (UNI) Two women passengers were robbed of nearly 40 sovereigns of gold by an unidentified youth on the Kakinada-Bangalore Seshadri express at Nidadavolu railway station, near here, last night.

Police today said the youth wearing a mask entered the women compartment when the train was nearing Tanuku station and threatened the women with a knife to part with the jewels..

Ramadevi and her daughter Soujanya gave away the ornaments to the youth. After other women passenger pulled the chain and the train came to a halt, the youth escaped.

Railway police registered a case in this connection.
