UPA passes vote of thanks amid NDA walkout

Ranchi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today passed the motion of thanks on the Governor's address by voice vote amid walkout by the NDA-led Opposition.

After a debate as Chief Minister Madhu Koda rose to wind up for the day, the Oppositon, including the BJP and JD-U, walked out saying all announcements made in the speech were ''vague'' and ''we do not believe in the government.'' Supporting the motion on a vote of thanks moved by Mr Udaishankar Singh (RJD), Mr Koda said the UPA government was hundred per cent committed to checking extremism adding a specific policy would be formed to control the menace.

Mr Koda said the government believed in overall development and special emphasis was being given to enhancement of internal resources which had been increased to Rs 5100 crore in the 11th five year plan from Rs 4700 crore in the 10th plan during the erstwhile government.

Mr Koda said the government was planning to strengthen its internal resources so that the money required for the budget was not borrowed from the financial institutions.
