Trip to New Delhi was satisfactory: Mehbooba

Jammu, Mar 8 (UNI) People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti here today expressed satisfaction over her recent meetings with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other Union ministers in New Delhi.

Talking to mediapersons at her residence this evening, Ms Mufti said she had received ''no negative response'' on the party's demands from any of the leaders during her visit to the national capital where she discussed the withdrawal of security forces from Jammu and Kashmir.

PDP has been demanding the withdrawal of troops, revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and vacation of civil properties by the security forces in the state.

On Prime Minister's refusal to withdraw troops in the present circumstances, Ms Mufti said, ''Dr Manmohan Singh has not given any such statement during our meeting. Even others whom I met, including Ms Sonia Gandhi, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Defence Minister A K Antony, gave a patient hearing to our genuine demands.'' MORE UNI
