Samajwadi Party, BJP hand in glove, says Congress

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Congress today said there was a deep-rooted relationship between the leaders of the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party and the pretended confrontation between the two parties was aimed at befooling the people.

"Their common objective is to see to it that either of them comes to power in Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh,'' Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.

"Samajwadi Party and the BJP are not strange but natural bed fellows and mutual back scratchers," Mr Singhvi told mediapersons here.

He said both the parties were "not only hand in glove, but glove in hand" and cited several instances to prove the point.

According to Mr Singhvi, during the BJP National Executive Meet, the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government had laid out a red carpet welcome to BJP leaders. During the VHP Convention in Allahabad, the State Government had provided full state support.

During the Saree Scam, he said, Mr Mulayam Singh had provided the required assistance to help not only Mr Lalji Tandon but Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee also.

While in Delhi, Mr Mulayam Singh himself shared a common platform with RSS, BJP and VHP leaders Mohan Bhaiya, Murli Manohar Joshi and Ashok Singhal, Mr Singhvi said.

Stating that there was deep relationship between the two self serving parties, the Congress Spokesman said whether it was unrest in Aligarh or elsewhere the pattern behind that could not be doubted.

Mr Singhvi pointed out that after the recent Supreme Court order for a CBI probe into the assets of Mr Mulayam Singh, the BJP had launched a concerted criticism of the CBI probe.The objective behind it was to ensure that either of the two parties came to power in Uttar Pradesh.That was the reason why no progress could be made on the Babri demolition case during the period the NDA was in power, he added.
