Opposition slams govt for increasing rly fares without facilities
New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Opposition in the Lok Sabha today accused the government of increasing railway fare through the backdoor and just renaming nearly hundred ordinary trains as superfast to increase the fares.
Initiating the discussion on Railway Budget, 2007-08, BJP's Tomar Chand Gehlot said fares were increased without providing any extra facilities like increasing the speed and reducing the number of stoppages.
He said another area from where the Railways were minting money was the Tatkal reservation scheme under which passengers were charged Rs 150 extra per ticket.
