Naxal killed in blast during MP bypoll

Bhopal, Mar 8 (UNI) A suspected naxal was killed this afternoon when a bomb he was carrying exploded near Churhat in Sidhi district while polling was underway for Lok Sabha byelection, the police said.

''The hitherto-unidentified body of a man, about 20 years old, was found on the Churhat-Teekat road, roughly 35 km from Sidhi district town. Two nine-volt batteries were found in the vicinity,'' Additional Superintendent of Police Saket Pande told UNI over telephone.

Sidhi is one of the few naxalism-affected backward districts in this state and Churhat is the hometown of Union Minister Arjun Singh.
