MLC granted bail in murder case
Lucknow, Mar 8 (UNI) Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today granted bail to Uttar Pradesh Member of Legislative Council (MLC) S P Singh in a murder case.
Justice Abdul Matin granted bail to Singh after hearing his counsel Virendra Bhatia, who is also a Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha member.
The MLC, who is also a co-founder-manager of Lucknow Public School, with his aide Shiv Bahadur was arrested last year in the Chandra Pal Singh murder case in the state capital.
C P Singh was also a co-founder-manager of Lucknow Public School which was started by him and S P Singh in 1983.
C P Singh was shot dead on September 21, 2006. Police had recovered 10 shells of 7.65 bore from the crime spot.
In 1977, C P Singh and S P Singh had worked together as teachers in a Lucknow-based school.
They were, however, sacked in 1983 from service and the duo founded Lucknow Public School, which later turned to be a bone of contention between them.
A case in this regard is still pending in the court.
C P Singh and S P Singh were also relatives.
The MLC allegedly gave money to Shiv Bahadur to kill C P Singh, who passed the contract to petty criminals Anant Verma of Gonda district and Ranbeer Singh of Barabanki district.
While, the MLC claimed his innocence, Shiv Bahadur alleged him for giving Rs 10 lakh for the killing.
