'Let public hanging of the corrupt be at India Gate': BJP
New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Taking a cue from the observations of the Supreme Court Bench that the corrupt should be hung on the nearest lamp post, the BJP today suggested that this lamp post should be located at India Gate.
Welcoming the Apex Court's observation, BJP Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj said ''We understand the pain with which the Court has made these observations as was done by India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru who too had expressed similar sentiments.'' The Bench, dealing with the fodder scam in Jharkhand, was quoted as saying to an accused that ''Law doesn't permit us to do it, otherwise we would prefer to hang people like you on the lamp post'' to act as a deterrent.
