Industrial MoUs worth Rs 5,995 cr signed in Haryana

Chandigarh, Mar 8 (UNI) As many as 390 industrial MoUs, involving Rs 5,995 crore and having employment opportunities for 76,443 persons, were signed in Haryana during the past two years, Industries Minister Lachhman Dass Arora said today.

He said direct foreign investment of Rs 1,380 crore had been received during the past two years. Besides, 29 big and medium and 1,915 small scale industrial units had been set up at a cost of Rs 483.34 crore which had provided employment opportunities to 19,775 persons in the state.

Mr Arora said the results of the new industrial policy implemented in the state had been very encouraging.

The export of the state had crossed Rs 25,000 crore annually which was a record in itself, he said.

He said a number of facilities were being given to those entrepreneurs who were interested in setting up their industries in backward areas of the state.

The Minister said as many as 72 proposals had received so far for setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state, out of these as many as 49 proposals had been approved by the Centre.

He said with the setting up of these SEZs, the investment of Rs 1.80 lakh crore would be invested and lakhs of people would get employment opportunities.

The Minister said a petro chemical hub was being developed near Panipat on 5,000 acres of land in which an investment of Rs 35,000 crore would be ensured.
