HC reserves order on JMM leader Shibu Soren's bail plea
New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today reserved its order after the arguments on the bail plea of former Union Coal Minister Shibu Soren, awarded life imprisonment for conspiring to murder his private secretary.
A bench of Justice Manmohan Sarin and S L Bhayana reserved the order after the CBI concluded his arguments opposing grant of bail to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) chief.
Additional Solicitor General(ASG) Amarendra Saran appearing for the CBI said Soren should not be granted bail as he was directly involved in the conspiracy of the abduction and murder of his secretary Sashi Nath Jha.
Soren is currently lodged in a Jharkhand jail, undergoing trial for his role in a mass murder case in the state.
Soren's counsel Dinesh Mathur had told the court that his client had been wrongly convicted for life imprisonment by the subordinate court on the basis of false charges slapped on him by the CBI.
Additional Sessions Judge BR Kedia had convicted Soren on November 28, 2006 for conspiring to abduct Jha on May 22, 1994 from Dhaula Kuan in South Delhi and later killing him in a village near Ranchi in Jharkhand.
